"I have some EXCITING NEWS to share"

"I'm gonna be a big brudder!"

That is what Wally told my parents when we called them on Skype this evening. He was wearing his new Big Brother shirt, too. He is so excited and can't wait to tell the rest of the family.

Like a Family

After arriving at the hotel in Orlando, Rick stood at the counter getting us checked in. Wally saw the sofas in the lobby and headed over to sit down. He turned to me and said, "Come over here Mommy. We can pretend to talk like a family."

My Tummy Says

Last ngiht and this morning I noticed Wally's eyes are a little red again. He has allergies and I believe this is what is causing the redness. He was rubbing them a little last night.

This morning I asked him if his eyes felt itchy or were burning. He said they were feeling just fine. I told him if they bothered him later in the day, he should tell his teacher so she can give him medicine (which tastes like bubble gum).

A few seconds later, he told me "Mommy, my tummy says my eyes hurt."

The Voice on the Monitor

As I was waking up his morning, I could hear Wally on the monitor starting to wake up. He said good morning to his friends (Baby Tad and a lot of stuffed animals). Then I heard an unmistakable "Damn it."

At first I thought I would head in there and address this with him, but decided to wait a minute. Then I heard him wiggle around in the bed and say "Oh no! I AM wet!" Poor little guy peed right through his pull-up overnight and was definitely wet.

Who Is it About?

We picked up Poppy from the airport, headed for breakfast then off to see some friends. On the way back to our house, Poppy told Wally there would be a present for him in the suitcase. Wally asked what it was and Poppy replied, "I don't know. It's from YaYa."

Wally looked at Poppy and asked, "Poppy, is it ALL about YaYa?"

A Special Message to Uncle Peter

Waiting for Daddy, we sat in the van in the parking lot at Kroger. He told me his misses his Uncle Peter. I told him we can make a video and send it to him. This is the result. Peter often speaks to Wally in Spanish to help him learn. Wally remembers parts of several words and mixes then together.

Self-sufficient Boy

Wally came in to cuddle with me this morning. After a few minutes, I told him I needed to take a shower and asked if he wanted to lay in my bed watching tv. He was happy and chose what he wanted to watch.

After my shower, I poked my head into my room to see how he was doing. He was sitting right where I left him, but had a bowl on his lap. I assumed Rick came home while I was in the shower and got him some breakfast. As I turned to go back in the bathroom, Wally said, "Mommy, I got these marshmallows all by myself. I got out a bowl, I opened the bag then I poured them in the bowl carefully so I wouldn't spill them. I was very careful." I told him I was proud of him and he shouldn't eat too many of them as I would be making him a real breakfast."

As I headed back in to the bathroom, he said,"Mommy, I got myself some milk, too. Fresh from the fridge."

I asked if he poured it himself. He told me he didn't, that it was already in there. I was relieved to know that he hadn't poured it himself. I am sure that would have made a cute mess.

Wedding Dancer

In November 2008, the three of us went to Mike and Kristy Doyle's wedding. Kristy is Rick's cousin. Wally turned 3 just a couple months before. He had been to one other wedding but was too young to really remember it. After the ceremony and dinner, the music started. From the moment it started around 7:30 he never left the dance floor. He loved it! He kept dancing until 12:45 when he ran up to me and said, "Mommy, can I put my pajamas on now?"

Here are a few videos from his dancing. It is a little dark, but you can see him having a great time!
