A Christmas Gift List

As we had some quiet family time before bed tonight, Rick and I were asking Wally about Christmas gifts he would like to give people. The conversation went a little like this.

Us: Wally, if you could pick a Christmas gift for Poppy, what would you give him?
Wally: That is easy, some tools.
Us: He would like that. What would you give YaYa?
Wally: I would give YaYa an art kit.
Us: That is a great idea. What about for Grandpa?
Wally: I would definitely give Grandpa some trains.
Us: Grandpa does love trains. What would you give Grandma?
Wally: (enthusiastically and lovingly) I would give Grandma some Christmas morning kisses!
Us: Oh, Wally. That is exactly what she would want.

His responses to all of these reminded us how well he knows the people he loves.

A Little Shopping

This afternoon, Rick asked if we could go to the mall to see the Christmas decorations. He said he thought it would help put him in the Christmas spirit. When I mentioned that our Christmas shopping is mostly done, he said he only wanted to do some window shopping. So we loaded the kids in the van and headed to the mall. There was pretty decorations and the Christmas shoppers were engrossed in their shopping lists. As we entered Eddie Bauer, an employee greeted us.
Wally: Hello.
Shop girl: How are you doing this evening?
Wally: we are shopping for windows.
Shop girl: (looking at Rick and me) Um, oh. (Then it dawned on her... ) Oh, you mean window shopping.

On the way home, Wally wanted to call Poppy and YaYa. She also asked him what he was doing for the evening. He told her we went to the mall to shop for windows.

Can't Hold it Back

Wally asked me to get him some Cheerios for breakfast because he was "STAAAAAAARVIIIIING!" I got a bowl and the box of Cheerios while he continued to dramatically tell me how hungry he was. I started pouring them into the bowl
Wally: I just can't hold it back anymore.
Me: Hold what back?
Wally: The starvingness!
